Manipal Academy of Higher Education’s (MAHE) Manipal Centre for Biotherapeutics Research (MCBR) has partnered with Korea Additive Manufacturing and Medical Reconstruction Pvt. Ltd. (KoreaAMMR) to co-develop 3D bioprinted products for biomedical use. The collaboration includes KoreaAMMR leasing a portion of MCBR’s GMP-compliant facility, where faculty and researchers from both organizations will work together on novel bioprinting projects. The partnership’s launch was marked by a ceremony attended by Dr. Narayan Sabhahit, Pro Vice Chancellor – Technology and Science at MAHE, and senior representatives from both organizations. This joint effort aims to create bioprinted solutions for regenerative medicine while training the next generation of experts in the field.

KoreaAMMR, founded in 2022 and incubated at SINE IIT Bombay and RIIDL KJ Somaiya, brings expertise in affordable bioprinting technologies aimed at developing transplantable organs and other medical applications. By working with MAHE’s established research infrastructure, KoreaAMMR hopes to accelerate the regulatory pathway for 3D bioprinted products, aiming to complete clinical trials within 5-7 years. The collaboration also extends to developing organ-on-chip systems to replace animal testing, advancing personalized medicine, and offering joint educational opportunities for MCBR students and KoreaAMMR staff. Together, they aim to position India as a leader in the global biotechnology and biomedical sectors.
